Top 10 Business Loan Lenders and Best Small Business Loan Rates (October 2026)
The best small business loan rate in October 2026 is about 8% at a bank and the most expensive common product is a merchant cash advance at the equivalent of 100% or more. Where your business lands depends on credit, time in business, deposits and how fast you need the money. Below: the current rate ranges by product with the prime rate at 7.00%, then our ten picks for 2026 and what each one is actually best at.
Who Are the Best Business Loan Lenders in 2026?
Our picks for October 2026: RAN Funding as the best overall for a range of options (one application puts an established business in front of term loans, lines of credit, SBA, equipment and receivables financing from a network of lenders); Newtek Bank for SBA loans; Idea Financial for lines of credit; iBusiness Funding for term loans; Live Oak Bank for large SBA loans and acquisitions; Huntington National Bank for small SBA loans at a bank; Wells Fargo for a bank line of credit; American Express Business Line of Credit for a short-term line with a flat monthly fee; Fora Financial for direct bad-credit funding; and Credibly for fast working capital. Lender figures are as published by each lender or in the SBA’s FY2026 lender statistics as of October 2026 and change without notice; confirm with the lender. RAN Funding figures are our own program parameters.
1. RAN Funding: Best Overall for a Range of Options
RAN Funding is a business financing broker, not a lender. One application puts an established business in front of a network of lenders at once: banks and SBA lenders, online term-loan and line-of-credit lenders, equipment lenders, receivables funders and revenue-based funders. That range is the reason it leads this list. Most owners do not know which product fits until the offers are side by side, and a bank line, an SBA loan and an online term loan priced on the same file is how you find the cheapest money you actually qualify for.
- Products: term loans, lines of credit, SBA 7(a) and 504, equipment financing, receivables financing to $5 million, short-term and revenue-based funding.
- Amounts: $20,000 to $2 million outside the SBA; up to $5 million with it.
- Requirements: 12 months in business preferred (6 for some products), $20,000 or more in monthly deposits, three months of business bank statements.
- Credit: from 500 for revenue-based products; 600+ for most term loans and lines; 680+ for bank and SBA pricing.
- Speed: specialist review the same day; funding from 24 to 48 hours on fast products.
- Cost to you: RAN Funding is paid by the funding partner you choose.
- Watch for: the lowest rates still go to the strongest files. Under 600 credit, expect factor-rate pricing and short terms.
2. Newtek Bank: Best for SBA Loans
Newtek is the most active SBA 7(a) lender in the country by number of loans in fiscal 2026, with 3,842 approvals in the year through July and an average loan of about $260,000. As a preferred lender it approves under delegated authority, so a complete file moves in 30 to 60 days instead of waiting on the SBA. Expect the standard SBA profile: two to three years in business, solid credit and cash flow that covers the payment, with rates capped at 10.00% to 13.50% at today’s prime rate and terms to 10 years (25 for real estate). See best SBA lenders of 2026.
3. Idea Financial: Best for Lines of Credit
Idea Financial offers revolving lines up to $250,000, with each draw repaid over 6 to 18 months and no application, origination or closing fees. Decisions come the same day on a soft pull; wires arrive the same day and ACH within 24 hours. Each draw carries a 2.5% fee, roughly 12% to 30% as an APR. The bar is firm: 650+ credit, two years in business and $15,000 a month in revenue, and no sole proprietorships. See best business lines of credit.
4. iBusiness Funding: Best for Term Loans
iBusiness Funding (formerly Funding Circle) offers term loans of $25,000 to $500,000 over six months to five years with fixed monthly payments, funded within two to four business days of approval. It wants 660+ credit, two years in business and $50,000 in annual revenue. Published APRs run about 22% to 50% with an origination fee of 4.49% to 10.49%, so it suits an established business that prefers a longer fixed monthly payment to daily or weekly debits. It also arranges SBA 7(a) loans up to $5 million.
5. Live Oak Bank: Best for Large SBA Loans and Acquisitions
Live Oak is a national SBA lender with an average 7(a) loan above $1 million in fiscal 2026, the largest among the top lenders by count, and it lends up to $5 million on 7(a) and $15 million on 504 projects. It publishes a 650 minimum credit score and specializes in business acquisitions, professional practices and owner-occupied real estate across a defined list of industries. Files outside those industries, or under about $250,000, are better placed elsewhere.
6. Huntington National Bank: Best for Small SBA Loans at a Bank
Huntington was the second most active 7(a) lender by count in fiscal 2026 (2,733 approvals through July) and is the rare large bank that leans into small SBA loans: its Lift Local program lends $1,000 to $150,000 to minority-, woman- and veteran-owned businesses, alongside standard 7(a) loans to $5 million. Its footprint is the Midwest and parts of the South and Mountain West, so it fits businesses that bank in those states.
7. Wells Fargo: Best for a Bank Line of Credit
Wells Fargo’s BusinessLine line of credit runs $10,000 to $150,000 at Prime + 1.75% to Prime + 9.75% (8.75% to 16.75% at the current prime rate), with the annual fee waived the first year and $95 to $175 after. Six months in business is the stated floor; pricing at the low end goes to customers with two or more years and deposits at the bank. Approval takes weeks rather than days, and the limit is modest, but for a business that already banks there it is among the cheapest revolving credit available.
8. American Express Business Line of Credit: Best Short-Term Line With a Flat Fee
The American Express Business Line of Credit (formerly Kabbage) offers lines up to $250,000 with 6-, 12-, 18- or 24-month terms on each draw and a flat monthly fee of 0.55% to 1.55% of the drawn amount instead of interest. On a 6-month draw at the low fee that is about 6.6% annualized; at the high fee on a 24-month draw it is far more, so read the schedule. One year in business and a business checking account are required; the application is quick and funding takes one to three days.
9. Fora Financial: Best Direct Lender for Bad Credit
Fora Financial funds $5,000 to $1.5 million with a 570 minimum credit score, six months in business and about $20,000 a month in gross sales, typically within 24 to 72 hours. Pricing starts around a 1.13 factor rate with a one-time fee of about 3%, and prepayment discounts are available. For an owner who wants to go direct rather than compare, it is one of the more accessible lenders for weaker credit.
10. Credibly: Best for Fast Working Capital
Credibly offers working capital loans and merchant cash advances of $5,000 to $600,000 with factor rates from about 1.11, a 500 minimum credit score, six months in business and roughly $25,000 a month in deposits. Approval can come in hours and funding the same or next business day. It also offers lines of credit and longer-term loans at higher credit and revenue thresholds. It is a fast, direct option for a business with strong deposits that needs money this week.
How We Picked
We ranked on five things: published rates and fees, minimum requirements, range of products, funding speed and 2026 lending volume (for SBA lenders, the SBA’s fiscal 2026 lender statistics). We left out lenders that do not publish minimum terms, and marketplaces that resell applications. RAN Funding places files with some of the lenders on this list and is paid by the lender a client chooses; the rankings are ours.
How to Choose the Right Lender for Your Business
- Two years, 680+ credit, financials ready, can wait 30 to 60 days: SBA 7(a) through Newtek, Live Oak or Huntington, or a bank line at Wells Fargo. Lowest cost.
- Two years, 650+, need a reusable line this week: Idea Financial or an online line placed through RAN Funding.
- Two years, 660+, want a fixed monthly payment over several years: iBusiness Funding or a term loan placed through RAN Funding.
- Six to twelve months, 500 to 600 credit, strong deposits: revenue-based or short-term funding through RAN Funding, Fora Financial or Credibly.
- Not sure which you qualify for: one application through RAN Funding returns offers across the products so you can compare before you commit.
Common Questions
What is the best interest rate for a small business loan right now?
About 8% to 11% at a bank and 10.00% to 13.50% on an SBA 7(a) loan at the 7.00% prime rate. Those go to established businesses with strong credit and financials. Online and short-term products cost more in exchange for speed and easier approval.
Who is the biggest SBA lender in 2026?
By number of 7(a) loans, Newtek Bank (3,842 approvals in fiscal 2026 through July), followed by Huntington National Bank and Northeast Bank. By dollars, Live Oak Bank and Huntington lead among the lenders on this list.
Is a broker better than going to a lender directly?
A broker is better when you do not know which product or lender fits, because one application returns several offers to compare. Going direct is fine when you already know the lender and product and meet its published requirements.
Why is RAN Funding ranked first if it is not a lender?
Because the ranking is about getting the best loan for your business, and a single application that reaches a range of lenders and products usually finds a cheaper or better-fitting option than any one lender’s box. RAN Funding is a broker and is paid by the funding partner you choose.
Which lenders work with bad credit?
On this list, Fora Financial (570+) and Credibly (500+) directly, and the revenue-based funders in RAN Funding’s network from 500. Expect factor-rate pricing and terms under 18 months.
Do these rates change?
Yes. Bank, SBA and most line-of-credit rates move with the prime rate, which the Federal Reserve’s decisions drive. Online lender ranges change with their own cost of funds. Figures here are as of October 2026.
