Editorial standards

How we decide what to publish, what every page on this site commits to, and the lines we will not cross. Written for the business owner reading our guides, and for anyone deciding whether to trust them.

What standards does RAN Funding content follow?

Every page gives a direct answer near the top, uses only figures we can stand behind, cites third-party statistics to a named and dated source, labels our own experience as experience, states who each product is wrong for, and is reviewed by a specialist who places that product before it is published. We do not publish invented statistics, unconfirmed approval rates or underwriting thresholds, competitor terms, or templated industry pages.

Why we publish anything at all

RAN Funding is a business financing broker. We place merchant cash advances, working capital loans, lines of credit, term loans, equipment financing, receivables financing and SBA loans for small businesses across the United States, and we are paid by the funder when a deal closes. That is the whole business model, and it shapes everything we write: an owner who understands what a factor rate is, what a stacked position does to a file, or why an SBA loan takes sixty days is a better client and a better-served one. Our content exists to make that owner.

It does not exist to rank for its own sake. We do not publish articles to fill a calendar, and we would rather have thirty pages an underwriter would sign off on than three hundred that read like everyone else’s.

What every page commits to

  • A direct answer near the top. If the page is about a question, the answer comes before the explanation.
  • Figures we can stand behind. Rates, amounts, timelines and requirements on this site are the ranges available through our lender network at the date shown on the page. Where a figure is an illustration rather than a quote, the page says so in the sentence, not in a footnote.
  • No invented statistics. Third-party numbers are cited to a named source with a date. If we cannot find a source we trust, the number does not appear.
  • Our own experience, labelled as such. Much of what we write comes from placing deals: what slows a same-day file, why consolidations collapse at the payoff stage, which documents a funder actually asks for. When a claim rests on that experience rather than on published data, the wording says so.
  • Both sides of the product. Every product page and guide states who the product is wrong for, not only who it suits. Speed has a price and we say what it is.
  • Plain language. No jargon a first-time borrower could not follow, and a worked example wherever arithmetic decides the outcome.

What we will not do

  • Publish an approval rate, a “typical” rate, or an underwriting threshold that a funder in our network has not confirmed.
  • Present a reverse consolidation, a confession of judgment, or any structure we would not place as a neutral option.
  • Describe a competitor’s terms. We have no way to verify them.
  • Mark up a page with reviews, ratings or awards it did not earn.
  • Generate a page by changing the industry name in a template. Industry pages are written around that trade’s actual cash-flow shape or they are not written.

Who writes and who checks

Pages are drafted by RAN Funding’s funding team and reviewed before publication by a specialist who places the product being described. Product terms, qualification bands and document lists are checked against current funder guidelines; third-party figures are checked against the cited source. The fact-checking policy sets out that process, and the content update policy sets out when pages are re-reviewed.

Disclosure

RAN Funding is not a lender, a law firm or a financial adviser. Our compensation is disclosed and paid by the funder; it does not change the terms you are quoted. Nothing on this site is a guarantee of approval or of specific terms, and nothing on it is legal or tax advice. State disclosure laws that apply to commercial financing are summarised in our guide to MCA disclosure laws by state.

Corrections

If something on this site is wrong, tell us at [email protected]. Factual errors are corrected on the page and the page’s review date is updated. We do not quietly rewrite figures.
