Bad Credit Business Loans in Florida: What Funds With a 500–640 Score, What It Costs and Florida’s Rules
A personal score in the 500s or low 600s closes the bank and most lines of credit, but it does not close financing for an established Florida business that deposits steadily. This guide is specific to Florida: which products fund with bad credit, what they cost, what Florida’s commercial financing disclosure law (in force since January 1, 2024) requires an offer to show you, how Florida’s homestead protection interacts with a personal guarantee, and what a Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando or Tampa business should have ready.
Can a Florida Business Get Funding With Bad Credit?
Yes, if the business is established and the bank statements are healthy. Revenue-based financing accepts personal scores from the mid-500s and is decided on three months of business deposits; short-term working capital loans accept scores from about 600; equipment financing accepts low scores because the equipment is the collateral; and receivables financing barely looks at the owner’s score because it underwrites the customer who owes the invoice. The requirements that matter are six months or more in business, $20,000 or more a month in Florida business deposits, fewer than three to five negative days a month and no stacked advances. The cost is higher than with good credit: factor rates of 1.20 to 1.40 are common, against 1.10 to 1.20 for a 680 score with the same statements.
What Funds With Bad Credit in Florida
| Product | Minimum score | Amount | Cost | Time | What decides |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue-based financing | Mid-500s | 50% to 150% of one month’s deposits, $20,000 to $500,000 | Factor rate 1.20 to 1.40 with bad credit | 24 to 48 hours | Deposit consistency, negative days, existing positions |
| Short-term working capital loan | About 600 | $20,000 to $250,000 | 18% to 35% APR | 1 to 3 days | Three to six clean months of statements |
| Equipment financing | 550 to 600; lower with a down payment | The equipment’s value | 10% to 20% APR | 2 to 5 days | The equipment, the vendor quote, a 10% to 20% down payment |
| Receivables financing | Largely ignored | 70% to 90% of invoices | 1% to 4% per 30 days | 2 to 5 days | Your customers’ creditworthiness |
| Line of credit | 600 to 620 with strong deposits | $10,000 to $100,000 | Prime + 8% to 15% | 2 to 5 days | Twelve months in business, deposits over $25,000 |
| Term loan, bank, SBA | 650 to 680 | — | — | — | Not with bad credit; the route is to fix the score first |
Notice what the deciding column says: for the products that work, the owner’s score is not the main input. Three months of Florida business bank statements are. See 550 credit score with strong revenue for the deposit-first underwriting in detail.
What Bad Credit Costs on $40,000
| Product | With a 560 score | With a 680 score (same statements) | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue-based financing, 10 months | Factor 1.32: $12,800 total cost, about $1,228 a week | Factor 1.15: $6,000 total cost, about $1,070 a week | $6,800 |
| Short-term loan, 12 months | 30% APR: $3,899 a month, $6,794 total | 16% APR: $3,629 a month, $3,551 total | $3,243 |
| Equipment financing, 4 years | 16% APR: $1,134 a month | 9% APR: $995 a month | $6,634 over the term |
October 2026 ranges, illustrative. The difference column is the price of the score, and it is why a first small deal paid on time, followed by six months of clean statements and a score above 620, is worth more than any single approval. See how to build and improve business credit.
What Florida Law Requires the Offer to Show You
Florida’s Commercial Financing Disclosure Law (Chapter 559, Part XIII, Florida Statutes) has applied to commercial financing of $500,000 or less since January 1, 2024. Before you sign, the provider must disclose the total amount funded, the total to be repaid, the total dollar cost, the payment amount and frequency, and any prepayment charges. Florida did not require an APR figure, so the useful comparison is the total dollar cost and the payment against your weekly deposits. If an offer arrives without that disclosure, ask for it; a provider that will not give it is telling you something. Florida also lets you check who you are dealing with: the Office of Financial Regulation licenses consumer finance companies, and a funder’s registration with Sunbiz shows how long it has existed. Our disclosure laws by state page has the full list.
Personal Guarantees and Florida’s Homestead Protection
Almost every bad-credit product carries a personal guarantee from the owner. Florida’s homestead exemption (Article X, Section 4 of the Florida Constitution) protects the owner’s primary residence from forced sale by most unsecured creditors, which is one reason unsecured business funding is so available in Florida compared with other states. It does not protect bank accounts, vehicles beyond a small exemption, rental property or receivables, and it does not apply if you voluntarily pledge the home. Read the guarantee, and never sign a contract that includes a confession of judgment; Florida courts do not favor them and several states have banned them outright.
What a Florida Business Should Have Ready
- Three to six months of statements from a Florida business checking account in the company’s name
- Sunbiz registration current and the owner listed as a managing member or officer
- A voided business check and the owner’s Florida ID
- A one-line answer to what the money is for
- Every existing advance or loan listed with balance and payment; Florida funders see them in the statements anyway
- For equipment: the vendor quote; a 10% to 20% down payment helps a low score
- For receivables: invoices and the customer list
Apply before noon Eastern on a weekday. A Florida business with a complete file and a score in the 500s usually has offers the same day and money in 24 to 72 hours.
By City
Underwriting does not change by city, but the industries do, and so does the local market: card-heavy restaurants and salons in Miami and Hialeah, marine and hospitality in Fort Lauderdale, healthcare and services in Pembroke Pines, tourism and construction in Orlando, and logistics and trades in Tampa. Each city guide lists the products and the deposit profile funders expect there. The statewide guide is business funding in Florida.
How to Pay Less Next Time
- Take the smallest amount that solves the problem and pay it as agreed; most funders report to business bureaus, and the renewal is priced better.
- Get to zero negative days: a low-balance alert and a small cushion change the next offer more than the score does.
- Pay down personal cards below 30% of their limits; that alone moves most scores 20 to 40 points in two to three months.
- Dispute errors on your personal report; Florida owners who moved or changed names often carry stale items.
- Do not stack: a second advance on top of the first is the fastest way from bad credit to a default record.
- At 620 and twelve months in business, ask for a line of credit; at 650, a term loan.
How to Apply
- Complete the online application in about five minutes. One soft credit pull; it does not affect your score.
- Upload three months of business bank statements and a voided check.
- A funding specialist reviews the file the same business day and presents it to the funders in the network that fit.
- Compare the offers side by side, with the total cost of each, and sign only the one you understand.
RAN Funding is a business financing broker, not a lender. The funder that approves you sets the terms and sends the money, and pays RAN Funding when the deal closes.
Common Questions
What is the lowest credit score for a business loan in Florida?
Revenue-based financing in the network accepts personal scores from the mid-500s when the business has six months in operation and $20,000 or more a month in deposits. Below about 500, or with recent returned payments, it is usually a wait-and-fix situation.
Does Florida require an APR on business financing offers?
No. Florida’s disclosure law requires the total amount funded, total repayment, total dollar cost, payment amount and frequency, and prepayment terms, but not an APR. Compare total dollar cost and the payment against your deposits.
Can a Florida funder take my house if the business defaults?
A personal guarantee lets a creditor pursue personal assets, but Florida’s homestead exemption protects a primary residence from most unsecured creditors. It does not protect bank accounts or other property, and it does not apply if you pledged the home.
Will bad credit business funding show on my personal credit?
The application is a soft pull. Some funders report the account to business bureaus; most do not report to personal bureaus unless the guarantee is called.
Can I get an SBA loan in Florida with bad credit?
Rarely. SBA lenders in the network look for 650 to 680 and two years of returns. Fix the score first; the products above are the bridge.
Is this available in Spanish?
Yes: préstamos para negocios con mal crédito en Florida, and RAN Funding’s specialists work files in Spanish.
Does applying affect my credit?
No. Seeing offers through RAN Funding is a soft pull. A hard pull happens only when you accept a specific offer, and only from that funder.
Is RAN Funding a lender?
No. RAN Funding is a business financing broker. One application goes to the funders in our network that fit your file; the funder makes the credit decision, sets the terms and funds the deal, and pays RAN Funding when it closes.
