Bar and Nightclub Business Loans: Working Capital, Renovations, Equipment and Seasonal Cash Flow
Bars and nightclubs are high-volume, card-heavy, seasonal businesses that many banks decline on the industry alone. Online and revenue-based funders do not: card sales and nightly deposits are exactly what they underwrite. This guide covers what bar and club owners borrow for, which products fit in October 2026, what the money costs with Prime at 7.00%, and how to present a file with late-night deposits and liquor-license questions so it gets approved.

Can a Bar or Nightclub Get a Business Loan?
Yes. Bars and nightclubs with a year or more in business (sometimes six months), $20,000 or more a month in deposits and owner credit from about 500 qualify for revenue-based financing and merchant cash advances sized on card volume; from 600 credit and $20,000 a month, for online lines of credit and term loans; from 680 with two years of returns, for bank and SBA financing where the bank accepts the industry. Equipment financing covers draft systems, POS, sound and lighting from a year in business (sometimes six months). Typical needs are $25,000 to $150,000 for renovations and equipment, $15,000 to $75,000 for off-season working capital, and $50,000 to $250,000 for a second venue or a buyout. The liquor license itself is valuable collateral in states that allow it to be pledged.
What Bars and Nightclubs Borrow For
Revenue is strong but concentrated on weekends and seasons, so the needs are renovation, equipment and the slow months.

Business Funding Products That Fit Bars and Nightclubs

How Lenders Read Bar and Nightclub Files
- Card volume is the core number. Funders read processing statements alongside bank statements; consistent monthly card volume supports a split-funded advance or a line.
- Seasonality is expected. Show twelve months, not three, so a slow February is read against a strong December.
- Cash tips and cash sales do not count unless deposited; a bar that deposits its cash reads as a bigger business than one that does not.
- Liquor license status is checked; renewals pending or violations open are deal-killers at banks and a question elsewhere.
- Stacked advances are common in this trade and cut offers in half; refinance or consolidate before asking for new capital.

How RAN Funding Places Bar and Nightclub Deals
Bars and clubs are an industry some funders avoid and others specialize in; we send the file to the second group. Card-heavy, seasonal files get presented with twelve months of history so the busy season carries the slow one, and you see every approval side by side.
- Apply once with a soft pull and the last three months of business bank statements (four in NY, CA or VA).
- A specialist reads the file the same day and presents it to the best-matched funders in our network for the best deal.
- You see the approvals side by side with total payback, payment and term, and decide.
- Funding in 24 hours to 5 days on most products; SBA in 30 to 60 days.
Common Questions
Why do banks decline bars and nightclubs?
Industry risk policies: late hours, cash handling, liquor-license exposure and volatility. Online lenders, equipment lenders and revenue-based funders underwrite the deposits and card volume instead.
Can I use my liquor license as collateral?
In some states a liquor license can be pledged or is treated as a transferable asset with value; lenders will ask. Elsewhere the license supports the file as evidence of a going concern rather than as collateral.
Merchant cash advance or line of credit for a bar?
An advance funds in 24 to 48 hours against card sales and costs a 1.15 to 1.50 factor; a line costs a third of that but needs 600+ credit. Use an advance for an emergency, a line for the recurring off-season gap.
How much can a bar borrow?
One to one and a half times monthly deposits on deposit-based products, up to about 1.5 times monthly card volume on a split advance, and up to 100% of equipment cost on equipment loans. A bar depositing $60,000 a month usually sees $60,000 to $90,000.
Is RAN Funding a lender?
No. RAN Funding is a business financing broker. We present your application to the funders in our network that fit your profile and show you the approvals that come back; the funding partner sets the approval, amount, rate, fees and terms. RAN Funding is paid by the lender, not by you.
