Where Brokers Place Large Business Funding Deals ($500K+)
A $500,000 request outgrows most advance funders. It does not outgrow the merchant. Here is which products reach $2 million, how underwriting changes at that size and what to send so the file is read as a large deal and not an oversized advance.
Where Do Large Business Funding Deals Get Placed?
Requests of $500,000 and up are usually placed into Business Term Loans and business lines of credit, up to $2 million through RAN Funding’s lender network, with SBA loans up to $5 million for established businesses that can wait and accounts receivable financing for B2B merchants. Brokers and advisors whose funders cap lower can send the file through RAN Funding’s partner program: one application for our lender network and one dedicated specialist, non-circumvention signed first.
Why Most Advance Funders Cap Below $500K
An advance is sized from recent deposits and repaid over months, so the ceiling is set by the merchant’s monthly revenue. A merchant at $150,000 a month rarely supports a $600,000 advance on any schedule. The funders are not being difficult; the product does not stretch.
Large requests are carried by products with longer terms and a different review: term loans, lines of credit, SBA and receivables financing. That is where a broker with an advance-only network loses the file.
Products That Reach $500K to $2 Million
| Product | Range through the network | Best-fit merchant | Timing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Business Term Loans | Up to $2 million, up to 3 years | Established, profitable, stronger credit, a defined project | Days to a couple of weeks |
| Business line of credit | Up to $2 million, drawn as needed | Seasonal or project-based revenue, wants a cushion | Days to a couple of weeks |
| SBA loans | Up to $5 million | Two years of returns, can wait for the process | Weeks to months |
| Accounts receivable financing | $20,000 to $5 million on open invoices | B2B merchants waiting 30 to 90 days to be paid | Days |
| Equipment financing | Sized to the equipment | A specific purchase; the equipment is the collateral | Days to weeks |
| Working capital and merchant cash advance | Up to $500,000+, occasionally larger on very strong deposits | A fast bridge, often alongside a term product | As little as 24 hours after approval |
Ranges are what is available through the lender network as of October 2026. An individual offer depends on the merchant’s revenue, time in business and credit profile, and nothing here is a guarantee of approval or of specific terms.
What Changes in Underwriting at This Size
Three bank statements still matter. At $500,000 and up they stop being the whole file.
- Financial statements. A profit and loss and a balance sheet, usually year-to-date plus the prior year.
- Tax returns. Two years of business returns for term and SBA products.
- Credit. The owner’s profile carries more weight than on an advance.
- Time in business. Two years or more for most term and SBA lenders.
- Use of funds. A number that large needs a reason: an acquisition, an expansion, a contract, equipment, paying off higher-cost debt.
- Existing debt. Every position and loan, with balances, because the new payment has to fit alongside them.
In the Federal Reserve Banks’ 2024 Small Business Credit Survey, fewer than half of employer firms that applied received the full amount they sought. Large requests are approved in parts more often than in full, so build the file for a partial and be pleased by a whole.
The File to Send
- The signed application.
- The 3 most recent business bank statements (4 in NY, CA or VA), every page.
- Year-to-date and prior-year P&L and balance sheet, if the merchant has them.
- Two years of business tax returns for term and SBA requests.
- A list of every open position and loan: lender, balance, payment and start date.
- A short use-of-funds note with dates: what the money does and when.
- Where the file has been and why it was declined or capped.
If the merchant does not have financials ready, send what exists and say so. The specialist will say what is needed for which product rather than waiting on a complete package.
Structuring a Large Request: One Product or Two
Large deals are often placed as a combination rather than a single approval. As an illustration, not a quote: a manufacturer asking for $750,000 to fund a purchase order might be placed as a line of credit against the order and receivables financing on the invoices that follow, with a short working capital piece to bridge the first weeks. Each piece is sized to what its product supports.
Set that expectation with the merchant early. A business owner who hears “one check for $750,000” and receives three approvals totalling $700,000 feels declined. One who understood the structure feels funded.
How It Runs with RAN Funding, Step by Step
RAN Funding is a broker, not a lender. One application for our lender network and one dedicated specialist.
- Sign up and sign the agreement. Fill in the form on the partner page. Select ISO / Funding Broker, or your profession if you advise business owners. Non-circumvention and the split are signed first.
- Send the file with the financials you have.
- Get an answer within one business day: which products are in play, what is missing, or a decline and why.
- Choose the handoff. Stay on the deal and co-manage it, or hand it off. Either way you are paid the same split.
- The deal funds and you are paid. Renewals on your merchants pay you as well.
Mistakes That Shrink or Kill a Large File
- Submitting it as an advance. The request is capped at what deposits support and the merchant hears a number far below what they asked for.
- No use of funds. At this size “working capital” is not a reason.
- Missing financials. Term and SBA lenders will not review without them.
- Leaving out a loan or position. It shows on the statements and the returns.
- Promising the full amount. Partial approvals are common; say so before the offer comes.
Consent and Disclosure
Tell the merchant the file is going to a second broker and get their agreement first. Do not describe yourself as a lender, and do not promise an outcome.
Disclosure rules vary by state. California, for example, requires a provider extending a specific commercial financing offer to give the recipient disclosures at the time of the offer, signed before the deal is finalized. MCA disclosure laws by state is a starting point, not legal advice.

Common Questions
How large a business loan can RAN Funding place?
Business Term Loans and business lines of credit up to $2 million, SBA loans up to $5 million, and accounts receivable financing up to $5 million on open invoices. Working capital and merchant cash advances usually run up to $500,000+. Each offer depends on the merchant’s file.
Why did my funders cap the deal at $200,000?
Advances are sized from monthly deposits. A $500,000+ request usually needs a term loan, a line of credit, SBA or receivables financing, which most advance-only networks do not place.
What documents does a $500K+ file need?
The application, the 3 most recent business bank statements (4 in NY, CA or VA), year-to-date and prior-year financials, two years of business tax returns for term and SBA products, and a list of every open position and loan.
How long does a large deal take to fund?
Term loans and lines of credit can close in days to a couple of weeks once the file is complete. SBA loans take weeks to months. A working capital piece can fund in as little as 24 hours after approval to bridge the gap.
Can a large request be split across products?
Yes, and it often is. A line of credit, receivables financing and a short working capital piece can be combined, each sized to what its product supports.
Am I paid the same if I hand the deal off?
Yes. The split in your partner agreement applies whether you co-manage the deal or hand it off, and the merchant is tagged to you.
