Business Loan Referral Program for Equipment Dealers and Vendors
The buyer wants the machine. What stops the sale is often everything around it: the down payment, the install, the operator training, the payroll while the new line comes up to speed. Here is how dealers and vendors refer that financing to RAN Funding without giving up the sale.

What Is a Business Loan Referral Program for Equipment Dealers?
It is an arrangement where an equipment dealer, distributor or vendor introduces a business buyer who needs financing to a funding company, and earns a commission when that financing funds. The dealer keeps the sale; the funding company runs the application with its lender network. With RAN Funding, a specialist looks at both the equipment and the working capital around it, and the partner agreement sets your commission in writing before your first referral.
Financing the Deal Around the Machine
Many dealers already have a captive or vendor finance program for the equipment itself. Keep using it when it fits. A referral to RAN Funding is most useful when the buyer needs more than the equipment loan covers, or when the vendor program declines the file.
| Buyer need | Typical product |
|---|---|
| The equipment itself, when your vendor program does not fit | Equipment financing (up to $2 million non-SBA when the business supports it; up to $5 million through the SBA) |
| Delivery, installation, tooling and training | Working capital or a term loan |
| Payroll and materials while the new equipment ramps up | Working capital or a business line of credit |
| A down payment the buyer does not want to take from operating cash | Working capital, sized to the business’s deposits |
| A larger expansion where the equipment is one piece | SBA 7(a) or a term loan |
Equipment approvals depend on the equipment type, its age and the buyer’s file; the specialist will tell the buyer early which lenders in our network fit.
Why Dealers Refer
- Fewer lost sales when the vendor program says no or covers only part of the cost.
- Your sales team stays on selling. The specialist collects statements and works the lenders.
- The buyer hears from one person, not a dozen funders.
- You are paid under a written partner agreement when the financing funds, and never on a file that does not fund.
How the Referral Works, Step by Step
- Sign up on the partner page. About two minutes. We call within one business day.
- Get a co-branded landing page and partner link your sales team can share with buyers.
- Introduce the buyer with a quote or invoice and a line on what else the money is for.
- One specialist runs the file, collecting a short application and the 3 most recent business bank statements (4 in NY, CA or VA).
- The buyer reviews offers and decides. You see status updates as the file moves.
- The financing funds and you are paid per the partner agreement.
What a Good Referral Looks Like
- A year or more in business (sometimes six months).
- $20,000+ in average monthly revenue in a business bank account.
- A dealer quote or invoice for the equipment.
- A clear plan for how the equipment produces revenue.
Startups are not a fit. Meeting the criteria does not guarantee an offer.
Timing the Financing With Delivery
Equipment financing typically funds in two to seven days after approval, and working capital in 24 to 48 hours. If the buyer needs both, introduce them when the quote is issued rather than when the unit is ready to ship. Section 179 and bonus depreciation can make a year-end purchase attractive; tax treatment is the buyer’s CPA’s call, not yours or ours.
How Commission and Payment Timing Work
We do not publish commission figures. RAN Funding pays partners a share of the commission it earns from the lender when a deal funds, set in writing in the partner agreement. You are paid at funding, typically by ACH, and nothing is paid on a file that does not fund. The buyer does not pay you.
Disclosure and Fair Dealing
- Tell the buyer. Disclose in writing that you may receive a referral commission, and that they are free to use any financing source.
- Keep pricing honest. Never raise the equipment price because financing is involved, and never present yourself as the lender.
- Public promotion. If your website or social posts recommend RAN Funding, FTC endorsement guidance says the paid relationship should be disclosed clearly.
- California. Paid introductions to commercial lenders fall under the California Financing Law; see our California guide.
Two Illustrative Scenarios
Hypothetical examples, not descriptions of specific clients or results.
- The install cost. A food manufacturer is approved by the dealer’s vendor program for a packaging line but not for the electrical work and installation. The dealer refers the owner for working capital to cover the install.
- The declined file. A landscaping company with strong deposits but a recent credit dip is declined by a captive program. The dealer refers the owner, and the specialist checks which lenders in our network look at deposits as well as credit.
Common Questions

Up to $2 million on non-SBA equipment financing when the business supports it, and up to $5 million through the SBA. Approval depends on the equipment and the file.

No. RAN Funding is a business financing broker. The lender sets the approval, amount, rate, fees and terms.
