Inventory Loan Rates in 2026: What Buying Stock on Credit Costs
There is no single inventory loan rate. The same $100,000 order can be financed with a bank line at about 10%, an SBA loan near 11% to 13%, an online term loan at 15% to 35% APR or a short-term product priced with a factor rate. This guide puts the October 2026 ranges side by side, shows what each costs on a real order and explains which one fits a seasonal buy, a supplier discount or a standing stock position.
What Are Inventory Loan Rates Right Now?
In October 2026, with the prime rate at 7.00%, inventory financing costs roughly: bank lines of credit and inventory loans at Prime + 1% to Prime + 5% (8% to 12%); SBA 7(a) loans at 10.00% to 13.50% variable; online term loans and lines at 15% to 35% APR for established businesses; and short-term or revenue-based products at factor rates of 1.15 to 1.40, which is 30% to 80% annualized on a 6- to 12-month term. Equipment-style inventory floor plans for dealers run 8% to 15%. The right rate is the one that is lower than the margin on the stock it buys.

What a $100,000 Inventory Order Costs to Finance
Assume the stock turns in six months and the loan is repaid as it sells.
| Financing | Cost over 6 months | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Bank line at 10% drawn 6 months | About $5,000 | Plus any annual fee |
| SBA 7(a) at 12%, 10-year term, paid off at month 6 | About $6,000 interest | Guarantee fee waived on loans up to $1M in FY2026; prepayment is free under 15 years |
| Online line at 25% APR, 6-month draw | About $7,500 | Monthly or weekly payments |
| Online term loan at 30% APR, 2-year term, prepaid at month 6 | About $14,000 | Check whether interest is forgiven on early payoff |
| Short-term loan, factor 1.25, 6 months | $25,000 | Fixed total; paying early rarely reduces it |
Against a 40% gross margin, every option above leaves money on the table, which is why fast inventory financing can be worth it even at factor pricing when the alternative is an empty shelf in season. Against a 15% margin, only the bank, SBA and perhaps an online line make sense. Run the numbers in our business loan payment calculator and factor rate calculator.
What Moves Your Inventory Loan Rate
- Time in business and deposits. Twelve months and $20,000+ a month in deposits open the mid-priced online products; two years and financials open bank and SBA pricing.
- Credit score. Under 600, expect factor-rate products; 600 to 680, online lines and term loans; 680+, bank and SBA pricing.
- How fast the stock turns. Lenders price inventory that sells in 60 days differently from stock that sits for a year. Bring sell-through data.
- Collateral. A blanket lien on inventory and receivables is standard; a lender that can verify and liquidate the stock prices it lower.
- Supplier terms. A purchase order from a known supplier with a confirmed delivery date lowers risk and sometimes the rate.
- Existing positions. Daily-debit advances on the bank statement raise the price of everything else.
Which Inventory Financing to Use
- Seasonal buy, same every year: a business line of credit, opened before the season so draws are instant. See business line of credit.
- One large order for a new product or contract: an online term loan or short-term loan sized to the order and repaid as it sells. See short-term loans.
- Standing stock that keeps growing with sales: an SBA 7(a) loan or a bank inventory loan over several years. See SBA loans.
- Supplier offers an early-pay discount: finance the payment if the discount beats the financing cost over the days you gain; 2/10 net 30 nearly always does.
- Dealer stock: a floor plan from the manufacturer or a specialist, and a line of credit for everything else.

Common Questions
What is the interest rate on an inventory loan?
From about 8% at a bank to 13.5% on an SBA loan, 15% to 40% APR online, and factor rates of 1.15 to 1.40 on short-term products. The spread comes down to time in business, credit, deposits and how fast the inventory sells.
Are inventory loans secured?
Almost always by the inventory itself and usually by a blanket lien on business assets. Banks and SBA lenders also take a personal guarantee; most online lenders do too.
Can I get inventory financing with bad credit?
Yes, through short-term and revenue-based funders that look at deposits more than score, generally from 550 with $20,000 or more a month in deposits. Expect factor-rate pricing and a term matched to the sell-through.
Is a line of credit cheaper than an inventory loan?
Usually, because you pay interest only on what you draw and only while it is outstanding. A term loan can be cheaper for one large order if the rate is lower and there is no early-payoff penalty.
Does the SBA have an inventory loan?
The 7(a) program and its Seasonal CAPLine can fund inventory. Both carry the same rate caps as other 7(a) loans and need the usual two years of operating history and full financials.
Is RAN Funding a lender?
No. RAN Funding is a broker that places inventory financing with the lenders in its network and is paid by the lender you choose.
