Business Loans by Amount: $10K to $5 Million, What Each Requires and Where It Comes From
The amount you need decides which lenders will look at the file, what they will ask for and what the money costs. $10,000 comes from a card or an advance in a day; $5 million comes from an SBA lender or a bank in two months with audited financials. This hub lays out every amount from $10,000 to $5 million for October 2026: the products and lenders that fund it, the deposits and credit it takes, the cost with Prime at 7.00%, and a link to the full guide for each figure.

How Much Can a Business Borrow, and From Whom?
Online lenders and revenue-based funders size loans at one to one and a half times average monthly deposits, so $10,000 to $500,000 is their range for businesses depositing $8,000 to $350,000 a month, with credit from 500 to 650 and funding in one to five days. Banks and SBA lenders size loans to cash flow coverage (1.25 times the payment) and collateral, which covers $25,000 to $5 million for businesses with two or more years of history, 680+ credit and financial statements, in two to twelve weeks. Equipment lenders fund the equipment cost, $10,000 to $5 million, secured by the asset. Factors and asset-based lenders fund 70% to 90% of receivables, from $10,000 to $10 million. The amount pages below give the specific requirements, lenders, payments and costs for each figure; through RAN Funding, any amount is presented once to the lenders that fund it.

How Lenders Decide the Amount
- Online and revenue-based lenders: one to one and a half times average monthly deposits over the last three months, reduced for NSFs, existing positions and seasonality. The fastest way to a larger amount is more deposits in the business account.
- Banks and SBA lenders: the loan whose payment historical cash flow covers 1.25 times (1.15 on some SBA files), limited by collateral; $1 million of free cash flow supports roughly $5 million over ten years at 10%.
- Equipment lenders: the equipment cost, less a 0% to 20% down payment, limited by credit and the equipment’s resale value.
- Factors and asset-based lenders: 70% to 90% of eligible receivables plus 30% to 60% of inventory; the facility grows as sales grow.
- Lines of credit: online, one to two times monthly deposits up to $250,000; banks, $25,000 to $1 million on financials.

How Cost Changes With Amount
| Amount | Cheapest realistic route | Fastest realistic route | Spread between them (approx.) |
|---|---|---|---|
| $10,000 | 0% intro card or online line ($0 – $250) | MCA, same day (factor 1.40: $4,000) | $4,000 |
| $50,000 | Bank at 9% over 2 yrs ($4,800) | Revenue-based in 24 h (1.25: $12,500) | $7,700 |
| $250,000 | Bank at 9% over 5 yrs ($61,400) | Online term at 24% over 2 yrs ($66,000) or revenue-based (1.22: $55,000 over 9 mo) | Similar in dollars; very different per year |
| $1 million | SBA 7(a) at 10% over 10 yrs ($585,800 over the full term) | ABL in 2 weeks (10% – 12% interest-only) | Structure, not rate |
| $5 million | SBA 504 blended ~7.7% over 25 yrs | Bank term or ABL in 30 – 60 days | Time, not rate |
Below $100,000, speed costs the most; above $500,000, the choice is about structure, term and covenants rather than rate. Current ranges by product are in business loan interest rates.
Common Questions
How much of a business loan can I get?
Online products: one to one and a half times average monthly deposits, $10,000 to $500,000. Banks and SBA lenders: the amount cash flow covers at 1.25x, up to $5 million (the SBA 7(a) maximum). Equipment: the equipment cost. Factoring and ABL: 70% to 90% of receivables. See the amount guides above for specific requirements.
What is the maximum business loan amount?
The SBA 7(a) maximum is $5 million; SBA 504 debentures reach $5 million to $5.5 million on larger projects. Banks and asset-based lenders lend $10 million to $50 million or more to qualifying companies. Online lenders cap single facilities at about $250,000 to $1.5 million.
What is the smallest business loan I can get?
Microloans and small revenue-based advances start at $5,000; business credit cards and vendor accounts go lower. RAN Funding places from $10,000.
Does a bigger loan have a lower rate?
Often, because larger amounts come from banks, SBA lenders and asset-based lenders that price lower than online lenders, and because SBA 7(a) caps fall as the amount rises (Prime plus 6.5 under $50,000 to Prime plus 3.0 over $350,000). The requirements also rise: two years of history, financials, collateral and 680+ credit.
How do I qualify for a larger business loan?
Raise and document deposits (online products), clear stacked advances, build business credit, produce clean financial statements and tax returns, offer collateral and apply for the amount cash flow supports at 1.25x coverage. Each repaid loan raises the next ceiling.
Is RAN Funding a lender?
No. RAN Funding is a business financing broker. We present your application to our lender network and show you the offers you qualify for; the funding partner sets the approval, amount, rate, fees and terms.
